I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al. My sobriety date is March 2, 2004. I am honored to serve as your District 9 Chairperson. The next Assembly will be at the Tampa Airport Marriott, July 6th – 8th. Flyers are on the District website for download. Check out the Protected Document Section to print out the Assembly Agenda and Motions to bring to your groups for consideration. It is our first time there and should be exciting.
The Gratitude Dinner planning meeting was held on May 27th at the Lambda Club South, 1231 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, only 2 Chair positions remain so more from Judy/Tracie a little later. We had a great time at the Founder’s Day Picnic on June 3rd at Snyder Park. The band was awesome. Joey will provide more details a little later. Flyers for all events are on the District Website to download and on the table to bring to your groups. Jackie/Debbie is sending around a sign in list for the Delegate Luncheon for next month on July 15th in the Cafeteria with food at noon and our Delegate report to follow at 2:00pm. Please try to attend and bring a dish. It’s always a fun and informative event.
Remember please think and pray what District positions you may want to hold when we have our October elections. I hope GSRs consider stepping up to ACM and stay in the District to help fulfill its needs. We get such great information and have a fantastic time at Assemblies. I can’t tell you enough how incredible it is to make friends from other Districts to share this Journey with. Maybe even a future Delegate will come from District 9. The request to host the October Assembly at the Boca Marriott for 2019 has been sent in to the Area Quarterly Coordinator for consideration. It will get talked about at the Assembly in July I’m sure. Please I hope you all get involved. That’s why we need people to step up for the following positions; all Officer Positions, Finance, Grapevine, Institution Liaison, Intergroup Liaison, Room/Ride Coordinator, and Support Your Services. Officers, and Standing Committees such as Finance, and Grapevine are 2 year terms, all others are 1 year with the eligibility to stand for a second year. See the Guidelines and talk to the present Committee Chair or one of your Officers for help. It would be my honor to talk to you about a position. Don’t be afraid step up for a position as God does not choose the qualified in so much as God qualifies the chosen so please pray and talk to your sponsor and stand in October.
