CHAIR REPORT – SEPTEMBER, 2019

I am an alcoholic, member of the Live Laugh Love group, my sobriety date is July 13th, 2008 and my name is Leslie.  Thank you for letting me serve as your District 9 chairperson.

Our Spaghetti Dinner Event on Saturday, September 7th was a great success.  We had a really good turnout.  The food was tasty and filling and the speaker, our very own past trusted servant, John A. was awesome.  He had a powerful message of hope and recovery with lots of service thrown in.  If you missed the Spaghetti Dinner, don’t fret, our next event of food, fellowship and message will be our Winterfest event.  Heather, our Support your Services chair has all of the details.  We are hosting the next Assembly in October right here in Boca Raton at the Boca Raton Marriott at Boca Center.  There are still opportunities to be of service from working registration, being a greeter or taking a shift in hospitality.  The next planning meeting for the Assembly is September 17th.   More from Debbie, our Assembly chair in her report.  Planning is still going strong for the 2019 Gratitude Dinner.  Thank you to Judy O. and her committee.  Their next planning meeting is September 29th at the Pompano Beach Group at 1:00 pm.  Jessica C. and the Archives committee are busy planning for the Early Timer’s Event to be held October 12th and the planning meeting for this event is Saturday, September 28th at the 441 Group at 2:00 pm.

CHAIR REPORT – AUGUST, 2019

We have a special treat today as our Delegate, Shirley P. is here to give her report on the General Service Conference that was held in May.  And a big thank you to Shirley for taking the time to keep us all well informed and for representing our District and Area.  It’s a big job.  I am very excited to hear her report.  Last Saturday was our Carry the Message Day event here at Nova.  A big Thank you to Victor for a successful event.  The speakers for District were our very own Jackie S.  who gave us much inspiration and John A., a past district chair.  Thank you to all of the committee chairs who showed up and represented our District.  We are hosting our next Assembly in October right here in Boca Raton at the Boca Raton Marriott at Boca Center.  There are still opportunities to be of service from working registration, being a greeter or taking a shift in hospitality.  The next planning meeting for the Assembly is August 20th.   More from Debbie, our Assembly chair in her report.  Heather and the Support Your Services committee are going full force for the Spaghetti dinner and I would love to see all of us there in service for that event which is next month, September 7th.  The next planning meeting is August 21st at Denny’s.  Heather will have more.  Planning is still going strong for the 2019 Gratitude Dinner.  Thank you to Judy O. and her committee.  Their next planning meeting is August 25th at the Sober Today Club. It was great seeing so many District 9 trusted servants in Tampa.  We had a total vote of 26 which is good since Tampa is not the easiest to get to.  We had a great Assembly.  And remember, we are hosting our next Assembly in October right here in Boca Raton at the Boca Raton Marriott at Boca Center.  There are many opportunities to be of service from working registration, being a greeter, taking a shift in hospitality.  The next planning meeting for the Assembly is August 20th.   More from Debbie, our Assembly chair in her report.  Heather and the Support Your Services committee have started planning meetings for the Spaghetti dinner and I would love to see all of us there in service for that event.  Next planning meeting is July 24th at Denny’s.  Heather will have more in her report.  Planning is still going strong for the 2019 Gratitude Dinner.  Thank you to Judy O. and her committee.  Their next planning meeting is July 28th at the 441 Group.   And don’t forget, August 10th is our Carry the Message Day event right here at Nova.  Victor will give us the details in his report.

CHAIR REPORT – JUNE, 2019

I am an alcoholic, member of the Live Laugh Love group, my sobriety date is July 13th, 2008 and my name is Leslie.  Thank you for letting me serve as your District 9 chairperson.

We had our Founder’s Day picnic on June 9th at Snyder Park.  There was a great turn out with lots of good food, great music and a wonderful meeting.  Our speaker Pat R. gave a great talk on the history of AA.  I learned a few things I didn’t know and had a really great time.  Thank you, Heather and all of the volunteers for a successful event.  It takes people to make these events run smoothly.  Heather will be gearing up for the Spaghetti dinner and I would love to see all of us there in service for that event.  I know I always say it is fun to do service, the truth is “it’s fun to do service.”  Planning is still going strong for the 2019 Gratitude Dinner.  Thank you to Judy O. and her committee.  Please be sure to come to the next planning meeting on June 30th at the Fourth Dimension Club.  There are plenty of service opportunities.  We are also underway with planning meetings for the October Assembly in Boca Raton.  Debbie C. will have more information and that meeting will be this Tuesday, June 18th.  Again, more service chances.

Friday, July 5th through Sunday, July 7th is the Area 15 General Service Assembly at the Tampa Airport Marriott.  Shirley P., our delegate will be reporting on the General Service Conference she attended in May in New York.

CHAIR REPORT – MAY, 2019

I am an alcoholic, member of the Live Laugh Love group, my sobriety date is July 13th, 2008 and my name is Leslie.  Thank you for letting me serve as your District 9 chairperson.

On May 4th, Jessica C. and the Archives Committee put on their annual Old Timers meeting.  This event featured 3 speakers, Kass C., Thomas F., and Fred S. who all have at least 35 years of sobriety or more and it was truly inspirational and just a great meeting.  It was a nice turnout and I would love to see all of my District 9 trusted servants at all of these events or as many as you can make.  We need each other and we need to show each other that we support all that we do in the District.  Heather M., our Support Your Services chair, is busy planning our next Support Your Services event, the Founders Day picnic on June 9th.  There are service opportunities available for the picnic.  The next planning meeting is this Wednesday at Denny’s.  Come celebrate AA’s birthday with us.  The funds we take in from our Support Your Services events helps to send our DCM’s, ACM’s and committee chairs to the quarterly assemblies.  So, I expect us all to sell tickets and get the word out about these events.  Planning is going strong for the 2019 Gratitude Dinner.  Thank you to Judy O. and her committee.  Please be sure to come to our next planning meeting on May 26th at the Lambda Club South. CHAIR REPORT – APRIL, 2019

I am an alcoholic, member of the Live Laugh Love group, my sobriety date is July 13th, 2008 and my name is Leslie.  Thank you for letting me serve as your District 9 chairperson.

Last weekend was our Assembly at the Boca Raton Marriott, hosted by Districts 6 and 7.   We had 41 votes at the Sunday business meeting, way to go District 9.   We had one Area motion to increase the budget for ASL interpreter services and it passed.  We had abbreviated reports from District chairs and committee chairs and then Conference Agenda Review Items.

We have been busy here in District 9 and there is something for everyone.  Jessica C. and the Archives Committee are busy planning the Old Timers event to be held May 4th.  This event features 3 speakers with at least 35 years of sobriety and it is always inspirational.  Planning is also underway for the 2019 Gratitude Dinner.  Thank you to Judy O. and her committee.  Please be sure to come to our next planning meeting on April 28th at the Twelve Step House.  Heather M., our Support Your Services chair, has started planning for our next Support Your Services event, the Founders Day picnic on June 9th.  The first planning meeting was this last Wednesday and the next one will be on the 24th.  Come celebrate AA’s birthday with us.  We are also underway with planning meetings for the October Assembly in Boca Raton.  Debbie C. will have more information and that meeting will be this Tuesday, April 16th.

CHAIR REPORT – MARCH, 2019

Our next Assembly will be at the Boca Raton Marriott, April 5th through 7th  which is right around the corner.  If you need to give up a room, please be sure to cancel through so that another trusted servant can get in at the group rate because there is still a waiting list.  Flyers for the Assembly are on the website.  Today we will be having an abbreviated Agenda where we only hear from some of our committees so that we can go over the General Service Conference Agenda items in preparation for our Delegate’s review at the Assembly in Boca Raton.  It is important to understand the items being discussed so that we can tell our Delegate our group conscience at the Business Meeting on Sunday, April 7th. Just a reminder, the 2019 General Service Conference Committee Agenda Items are on the password protected part of the website. Please know that all Committee reports will go in the Minutes so please be sure to get them in to our Secretary, Jackie.

I attended our Spring Fling Chili Cook Off Dinner with karaoke and speaker meeting and all I can say is I had a blast.  Thank you, Heather for a successful first event.  The chili was great, the turnout was awesome and it was all followed by a wonderful speaker.  A very big thank you to the following committees, Website, Archives, Grapevine, PI/CPC, Literature and Accessibility for bringing their displays.  It was a great show of team work and that we support each other in this wonderful journey of service and sobriety.  Plans are under way for Founders Day picnic so please stay tuned.  We will be having our first planning meeting for the October Assembly this Tuesday, March 19  and Debbie C. has all of those details. The first Gratitude Dinner planning meeting will be March 31st at the 101 Club at 1:00pm so come get on the Committee of your choice and help pick the theme of the Gratitude Dinner. CHAIR REPORT FEBRUARY, 2019

I am an alcoholic, member of the Live Laugh Love group, my sobriety date is July 13th, 2008 and my name is Leslie.  I am so honored to be serving as your District 9 chairperson.   Congratulations to our new chairs elected at the January meeting.

Our next Assembly will be at the Boca Raton Marriott, April 5th through 7th.  Flyers on the website.  Our Delegate, Shirley P. sent out the 2019 General Service Conference Committee Agenda Items and they are on the website.  (shout out to Milinda and her website committee, everything for the district and about the district is on the website).  As soon as the background material is available, I will send out to those members who are presenting and we will go over the items at our district meeting.  Please bring these agenda items back to your groups for discussion so we can better advise our Delegate, Shirley at the April Assembly.

Our next event for Support Your Services is the Spring Fling Chili Cook Off and Dinner with karaoke and speaker meeting.  The dinner is March 2nd and planning meetings are wrapping up.  I attended the planning meeting this last Wednesday and it was very well attended. Don’t miss out on the fun.  The last planning meeting is February 27th.  This is an excellent way to give back by doing service and you most definitely will have fun.  Heather will give us more details in her report.

I have been in contact with Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church for our annual Gratitude Dinner and we have the date of November 1st for the dinner.  They have penciled us in for that date and those planning meetings will begin soon. Judy O. will fill us in.  And as a side note, the 2018 Gratitude Dinner contribution was sent to the General Service Office this past week.  That check was in the amount of $3,284.28.

CHAIR REPORT JANUARY, 2019

I am an alcoholic, member of the Live Laugh Love group, my sobriety date is July 13th, 2008 and my name is Leslie. I am so honored to be serving as your District 9 chairperson. A big thank you to Al for his leadership these past 2 years and his continued guidance and support. I want to welcome my fellow officers, Sherri, Jackie and Bart. I also want to welcome all of the new chairs ACM/DCMs’ and GSR’s coming in to service and to those already here. I am the blessed one to be serving in District 9 with such an awesome group.
Our Assembly in Tampa this last weekend was a great success. We had a total of 28 votes for our District and I think we were well represented and I for one had a great time especially after giving my chair report to the Area body. I could finally start breathing again. I couldn’t fail because I knew all of my District 9 trusted servants there in body and in spirit were supporting me. Our next Assembly will be at the Boca Raton Marriott, April 5th through 7th. Flyers on the table. I did request our Conference Agenda background materials and we will hand them out as I receive them. Also, I will keep you informed on the Preliminary Agenda items for the General Service Conference when they become available from our Delegate, Shirley P.
As incoming chair, I have filled the following positions. Al K. will be our Current Practice chair. David S. will be the ACM/DCM coordinator and Sharon G. has agreed to a second year as GSR workshop coordinator. I have also selected Debbie C. for Assembly Chair as we are hosting an assembly in October at the Boca Raton Marriott. She will give her credentials later in this meeting. It is with sadness to report that Bobby M. has stepped down as PI/CPC chair and ACM due to health reasons. He is in our prayers and will be missed. We thank him for his service. PI/CPC is an open position. Grapevine is still an open position and I know someone out there wants to wear purple and remember this is our meeting in print. Carry the Message is open as well. We will hold elections for these open positions, for our 2019 Gratitude Dinner chair and will vote on our new budget.
Our next event for Support Your Services is the Spring Fling Chili Cook Off and Dinner with karaoke and as always, a great speaker meeting. The dinner is March 2nd and planning meetings are well under way. This is an excellent way to give back by doing service and you will have fun. These events are not to be missed. GSRs’ please let your group treasurers know that the address for Area contributions has changed as it does every two years. Sherri, our treasurer has the new address. Also at the Assembly in Tampa, the area budget was voted on and passed. As a side note, Area 15 contributed to the General Service Office in New York $48,287.48.

CHAIR REPORT DECEMBER, 2018

I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al. My sobriety date is March 2, 2004. I am honored to be able to serve as your District 9 Chairperson these past 2 years. Thank you all for your support and growth during this amazing experience.
First and foremost the lease agreement with Nova University for 2019 is signed and paid with the Insurance Certificate in place. The 2019 Calendar is available on the table and on the District Website for your use to make sure you don’t miss a date for a meeting or an event.
What a wonderful Winterfest Holiday Dinner & Ice Cream social. Thank you to John K our Speaker and all those that worked hard to make this event possible. Thank you again Bobby V & Heather M who will give us more details in the Support your Services report. Great job well done.
District elections will continue today for Archives and Grapevine which are 2 year terms and Carry the Message Day which is a 1 year term with the eligibility to stand for a second year. These are positions we really need filled as Archives and Grapevine bring their displays to home groups and events in accordance with our Primary Purpose. Don’t be afraid step up. If you need help just ask. The service will help keep you on the path to Happy Destiny. You can’t keep it without giving it away. CHAIR REPORT NOVEMBER, 2018

I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al. My sobriety date is March 2, 2004. I am honored to be able to serve as your District 9 Chairperson.

The Gratitude Dinner was awesome with great food, fellowship and Speaker. Thank you all who participated and did Service. More details will be available a little later in the Gratitude Dinner Report.

Planning is underway for the Winterfest Holiday Dinner & Ice Cream social. More info will be provided from Bobby V & Heather M in the Support your Services report.

District elections went well last month with almost all positions filled. Today, in this District meeting we will be holding elections for the following positions; Archives and Grapevine which are 2 year terms and Carry the Message Day which is a 1 year term with the eligibility to stand for a second year. Don’t be afraid to step up. You can’t keep it without giving it away. Right now we would like to take this opportunity to thank Thomas D for his service while Archives Chairperson. We wish Thomas gratitude and willingness to continue to carry the message and inspire the newcomer. Good luck Thomas in all you do.

This week I got a very nice email from the Broward County Institutions Chairperson Ken J and their Steering Committee. Ken writes “I want to thank and recognize David for his excellence in service to our Committee. During his 2 year commitment he demonstrated great leadership, provided wisdom and acted in the best interests of AA.” District 9 would like to thank David for your hard work and dedication. You are an example for us all.

In early December, we will be looking to finalize our lease with NSU. We have signed the lease with no change to the dates that have been proposed. The rooms have been determined and now we just need to wait until the Liability Insurance is processed and execute final payment. The 2019 Calendar will be available on the table at the December District Meeting as well as on the District Website for your  use.

CHAIR REPORT OCTOBER, 2018

I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al. My sobriety date is March 2, 2004. I am blessed and honored to be able to serve as your District 9 Chairperson.

We had a really good voting Assembly in Boca Raton earlier this month. Attendance was good and my heart was touched by everyone in District 9 that stuck it out to the very end. Thank you for your service. Many lessons were learned. It’s going to be and exciting 2019-2020 with Panel 69. I do want to congratulate and acknowledge our own District 9 Trusted servants that will be serving the Area. Area Treasurer – Lisa D, Area Grapevine Chair – Karen D, Area Grapevine Secretary/Treasurer – Jean G, Area Treatment Chair – Richard S, Area Treatment Secretary/Treasurer (rotating out as BCIC Chair) – Ken J, Area PI/CPC Chair – Sharon G, Area Literature Secretary/Treasurer – Robin P.

The Early Timer’s Event was held on October 13th here at Nova. Thank you to our 3 speakers Cookie, Pat R, and Gail R for their messages. They were amazing. We would also like to thank the Archives, PI/CPC and Accessibilities Committees who came out with their displays and everyone in attendance and helped to make this event possible.

The last Gratitude Dinner planning meeting was held yesterday, October 20th at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Tickets are officially open to the public and will be sold today after the meeting. There are still positions available for service. More details will be available a little later in the Gratitude Dinner Report.

CHAIR REPORT – SEPTEMBER, 2018

I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al. My sobriety date is March 2, 2004. I am blessed and honored to be able to serve as your District 9 Chairperson.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves at the 62nd Florida State Convention August 15th thru the 19th. I know I did and oh that Musical was special. *wink*

As I reported last month, Carry the Message Day/Unity Breakfast was held here at Nova on August 4th at 8:00am. It was a fun event and I want to thank those again that came to help Carry the Message in support of BCIC, Intergroup and District 9 General Service. The new venue of an Ask It Basket Panel with 2 Trusted Servants from each entity worked out well with a great discussion. Attendance was somewhat low which resulted in each entity contributing $357.91 toward the cost of the event.

The Gratitude Dinner planning meeting was held on August 26th at the Sober Today Club at 1:30pm in Hollywood where we continue sign-up and sold tickets to the Dinner Committees. Today we will continue selling tickets to District trusted servants. There are still many positions available for service. It is our biggest event of the year. Someone from the Gratitude Dinner Committee will explain this process and provide more details a little later in the Gratitude Dinner Report.

The Spaghetti Dinner was held on September 8th here at Nova. Attendance was amazing with a full house for the food and the movie. Thank you Bobby V and Committee …. Homerun!!! More from Bobby a little later.

Next month we have our District elections so please pray on how you can best be of service to District 9 and the sick and suffering of Broward County. Please get involved as Service is crucial to everyone’s sobriety. The following positions will all be available; Chairperson, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Registrar, Finance, Grapevine, Institution Liaison, Intergroup Liaison, Room/Ride Coordinator, and Support Your Services. Officers, and Standing Committees such as Finance, and Grapevine are 2 year terms, all others are 1 year with the eligibility to stand for a second year. Please see the District Guidelines and talk to the present Committee Chair or one of your Officers for help. Don’t be afraid step up for a position it fosters growth and the need is great. Founder’s Day Picnic Statement

As some of you may know the District’s Support yours Services Chair stepped down in June. After conclusion of our financial review, at this time it is our responsibility to inform the body that there was a significant shortage in what revenue was received for deposit and what should have been deposited based on our audit of the total revenue received minus expenses. The shortage resulted in a profit to the District for the Founder’s Day Picnic of $33. As the shortage in deposits received was significant, the District Officers decided to request that the Support your Services Chair resign in the best interest of District as it was clear that the position was not being managed properly. To make things right, the Support your Services Chair at the time stated that the District would be reimbursed for those revenues not turned in for deposit.

Your Officers came to consensus that in the best interest of the individual in recovery we needed to be sensitive to their circumstances and to exercise forgiveness, patience, love, and tolerance as our Program teaches us. The Officers did not request the individual to step down from any other service position and tried to encourage other forms of service activities to help with the person’s recovery. Unfortunately, the individual eventually resigned from their other service position and left the District. Since July, we have tried to reach out to this person giving every opportunity to do the right thing, without judging.

As we are not receiving any further communication with this individual, it’s apparent that the District must close the books on this disappointing situation and must move forward. We ask that your prayers go out to this person for a good recovery, peace, and serenity.

Lastly, the Officers would like to thank Bobby V for his service in stepping up as interim Support your Services Chair. Great job Bobby and Committee with the Spaghetti Dinner. It was amazing.

CHAIR REPORT – AUGUST, 2018

I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al. My sobriety date is March 2, 2004. I am blessed and honored to be able to serve as your District 9 Chairperson.

The Gratitude Dinner planning meeting was held on July 29th at 441 in Margate where we sold our first tickets to Dinner Committees. Today we will be selling tickets to District trusted servants. Someone from the Gratitude Dinner Committee will explain this process and provide more details a little later in the Gratitude Dinner Report. Planning is continuing for the Spaghetti Dinner on September 8th right here in Nova. Bobby will fill us in a little later in his report.

Carry the Message Day/Unity Breakfast was held here at Nova this past Saturday, August 4th at 8:00am. It was a fun event and I want to thank those that came to help Carry the Message in support of BCIC, Intergroup and District 9 General Service. The new venue of an Ask It Basket Panel with 2 Trusted Servants from each entity worked out well with a great discussion. Many questions were fielded, discussed and answered. There were literally tons of food leftover. General Service District 9 unveiled a new piece of literature on “How to Get Involved in Service in General Service District 9”. It is a very useful piece of literature although some typos were found to be corrected before the next printing. OOPS. Allan G will add some details in his report.

We have our District elections in October so please pray on how you can best be of service to District 9. It’s very important that we take care of our own sick and suffering alcoholics in Broward County first and try to help them travel that Road to Recovery. Participation and Communication is key to our program and District. We pray that GSRs have the willingness to step up to ACM and stay in the District. Are you willing? CHAIR REPORT – JULY, 2018

I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al. My sobriety date is March 2, 2004. I am honored to serve as your District 9 Chairperson. Today we will be having an abbreviated Agenda to make time for our Delegate’s Conference Report but I assure you that all reports will be in the minutes in their entirety.

Although the Assembly at the Tampa Airport Marriott, July 6th – 8th was a long ride, the Hotel was very accommodating and the business meeting enlightening. Attendance seemed a little down as a whole from the last few Assemblies with our own District 9 having just 20 votes and District 8 right next door had 40 votes. Our participation was a little surprising so we may need to discuss it in more detail to try to determine what happened and how we can improve. Remember GSRs are the voice of their Groups and are at the top of the upside triangle so if you do not exercise your right to vote, an educated group conscience cannot be obtained for the good of your Group, the District, the Area, and AA as a whole. Everyone suffers because only a handful are making the decisions for all of us and God help us. If you would like to know the results of the Motions please contact your ACM/DCM for details. On a high note we have been awarded the October 2019 Assembly at the Boca Marriott Hotel October 4th – 6th. The Keys has not hosted an Assembly in a long time so hopefully one of their Districts may reach out to us and be willing to get involved and help. On a particular note related to the Assembly, we find that it is necessary to make it clear that GSRs who are not funded by their Home Group and request to stay in a District paid room are required to attend the Sunday Business meeting.

The Gratitude Dinner planning meeting was held on June 24th at the 4th Dimension Club. All Chair positions I believe are filled and tickets will be sold to Committee members at this month’s meeting at 441 Group (Village Plaza), 1452 N. State Road 7, in Margate on July 29th at 1:30pm. Judy will explain this process and provide more details a little later in the Gratitude Dinner Report. Planning has begun for the Spaghetti Dinner. So, at this time, I would like to formally announce to the body that our own Bobby V has agreed to step in and be the Support Your Services Chair for the remainder of the year. Thank you Bobby. Bobby V will elaborate more in his own unique manner in the report. Also, don’t forget our Carry the Message Day/Unity Breakfast to be held here at Nova on August 4th at 8:00am. If all goes well we will be unveiling a new piece of literature on “How to Get Involved in Service in General Service District 9”. It should be a fun event. The Gratitude Dinner planning meeting was held on May 27th at the Lambda Club South, 1231 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, only 2 Chair positions remain so more from Judy/Tracie a little later. We had a great time at the Founder’s Day Picnic on June 3rd at Snyder Park. The band was awesome. Joey will provide more details a little later. Flyers for all events are on the District Website to download and on the table to bring to your groups. Jackie/Debbie is sending around a sign in list for the Delegate Luncheon for next month on July 15th in the Cafeteria with food at noon and our Delegate report to follow at 2:00pm. I hope GSRs consider stepping up to ACM and stay in the District to help fulfill its needs. We get such great information and have a fantastic time at Assemblies. On May 5th we held our Old Timer’s event with 3 Speakers that had 35 years or more of Sobriety to share their experience, strength, and hope. We had a better turnout from last year but could use more help on the Archives Committee with GSRs getting more involved. We had one Committee with their display. Thank you PI/CPC for carrying the message. The event was loaded with newcomers which was encouraging but could use more participation in Twelve Step work. More from Thomas a little later in the meeting.

I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al.  My sobriety date is March 2, 2004.  I am honored to serve as your District 9 Chairperson. I attended the Assembly at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa on April 6th – 8th. It was a long day of going over the General Service Conference Agenda Items with our Delegate Annie C. We had 37 votes but District 8 had 50 votes. That was amazing. Since there were no motions on the Agenda it was mute. The next Assembly will be at the Tampa Airport Marriott, July 6th – 8th. Flyers are on the table and the District website for download. It is our first time there and should be exciting.

Planning is underway for the Old Timer’s event being held here on May 5th so come out and join us. This is a free event with 3 Speakers that have 35 years or more of Sobriety to share their experience, strength, and hope. CHAIR REPORT – MARCH 2018

I’m an alcoholic, member of the Tamarac Group, and my name is Al. My sobriety date is March 2, 2004. I am honored to serve as your District 9 Chairperson. The next Assembly is at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa April 6th – 8th. Flyers are available on the District website. The April Assembly is in our own backyard in Weston so come and get involved. There are plenty of Workshops to attend such as Traditions, Concepts, and GSR sharing session to name a few. Please find your passion and go to a Committee Meeting of your choice so you can get involved in District. Our Delegate Annie C will be going over the General Service Conference Agenda Items for you input.
As a reminder to District trusted servants that hold positions, “For attendance at South Florida Assemblies, District 9 will reimburse a flat rate of $200.00 (all inclusive) for one night’s lodging. If attendee holds a funded Area 15 position, he or she is funded according to Area 15 Current Practice, and District 9 reimburses the difference between the Area funding and the current District 9 flat rate, but not to exceed the current District 9 flat rate. Eligible to receive compensation are District Officers, DCMs, ACMs when there is no DCM or the DCM is unable to attend, Archives, Current Practice, Grapevine, PI/CPC, Accessibilities, Literature, Website and Finance Committee Chairpersons. In addition,“DCMs, ACMs and GSRs must attend their respective Saturday meetings including the Sunday morning business meeting in order to be reimbursed by District 9. What that means is if you are a District Committee Chair and a DCM/ACM you must attend your respective Area Committee Meeting, the DCM Sharing and Sunday Business Meeting. The same holds true for GSRs that are District Committee Chairs, you must attend your respective Area Committee Meeting, the GSR Sharing, and Sunday Business Meeting. Although this is an honest program we do check to ensure that we do our best in Carrying the Message and being responsible with 7th Tradition Contributions. It is important to understand the items being discussed so that we can tell our Delegate our group conscience at the Business Meeting on Sunday, April 8th. Spring*Fling is over and I know that all in attendance had a great time and our speaker Jean did a real good job. Thanks to the Support Yours Services Committee for their hard work with this event.
