I am an alcoholic, I’m a member of the Lunch Bunch Group, my sobriety date is February 26th, 2009, and my name is Sherri.
If your new, you may not know about the workshop that was held prior to this meeting beginning at 12:30 in the building just behind this one, in room 105. We have one every month. There you can meet and chat with DCM’s and ADCM’s and learn tons of cool stuff from Steve B. about General Service.
Before I move on with District topics, I just have to say it was really great seeing so many of your faces at the Convention earlier this month. What an amazing celebration of fellowship and recovery! If you missed it for whatever reason, don’t worry, you can catch the next one at the Saddlebrook Golf & Spa Resort in Tampa next year from August 10th – 13th.
Thank you to all who showed up yesterday to the first planning meeting for the April 14th – 16th 2023 Quarterly Assembly that we, District 9 & District 8 which is Palm Beach County are co-hosting. Assembly planning is a fun way to fellowship as we fill committees to help prepare for members from Area 15 (which covers South Florida, the Bahamas, U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Antigua, St Maarten & Cayman Islands) to come and have a fun filled weekend as we conduct Area 15 business. So, if you like to have fun and like to serve Alcoholics Anonymous you might think about joining us for the next planning meeting in September, exact date to be determined.
Carry the Message Day is September 10th! Fritz and his team have an awesome event planned for us, so show your support, bring a newcomer to service and come join us for fun, fellowship, dessert, coffee and some great information on how many different ways someone can be of service here in Broward.
As we do every month, further down on the agenda we will conduct the usual elections for General Service Representatives and Alternate District Committee Members if there are any that are rotating down the service triangle.
Speaking of elections, October is right around the corner and it’s time for officer elections as well as many committees that will be need new chairs as the current ones rotate out. All officer positions as well as our new position Alternate Chairperson will be up for election along with: Accessibilities, Finance, Website, Carry the Message Day, and Institution Liaison. Please, if you meet the requirements, have the time and are willing, please speak with your sponsor, your service sponsor, your mates and even your pets if you have any to determine if now is the right time to stand, District 9 needs you! But no pressure :0)
If you are a voting member, please do your very best to be at the next Quarterly Assembly from Sept 30th – Oct 2nd. Again, this is a voting assembly, and we need you to help vote in your next Area 15 panel of officers as well as the new delegate and alternate delegate. The flyer is available on the area website.
Please, don’t ever hesitate to send your Questions, comments, or concerns to me at: chairperson@district9aa.org or call or text me at: (954) 681-2309, I am here to serve you.
Grateful to be of service to District 9, where A.A. is so Divine. Thank you
