Hello District 9, I am an alcoholic, I’m a member of the Lunch Bunch Group, my sobriety date is February 26th, 2009, and my name is Sherri.
Welcome to District 9’s monthly General Service Business Meeting. If you are new and not yet on our mailing list, please check the chat for a link to today’s agenda so you can follow along.
How exciting that we will be attending a LIVE Assembly next month in Sarasota! If you are a GSR who has never been to an in-person Assembly and are not sure what to do, please contact your subdistrict ADCM, DCM, any Committee Chairperson or any of us officers and we will be happy to get you up to speed. If you have not yet booked your room and heard that the hotel room block is full, that is correct, but I urge you to get yourself on the wait list, please email hotelinfo@area15aa.org.
If you already booked a room and need to cancel it, PLEASE use the same email so your room can go to someone on the waitlist. Wait list members almost always, if not always get a room but you need to put your name on the list. If you are financially able to support the $40.00 banquet, please bring cash as the deadline to prepay by check has passed. Also 100 new Service Manuals will be on sale at the Assembly, $4.00 each and again please bring cash, preferably singles as they will not have change. The flyer with all the information about the hotel and how to get on the waitlist will be in the chat along with the Sunday morning business meeting agenda, complete with the 7 Motions that were gone over in the GSR Workshop. Seeing as there are so many motions, many District Chairs, including myself, have decided to waive the reading of their District Reports and just have them put into the minutes. Doing this could potentially shave off 30-45 minutes off the business meeting. Reminder that ANY amendments made to ANY motions will need to be done in writing and given to the Area Chair and the Recording Secretary.
A very important General Service Office announcement was emailed out about their 7th Tradition contributions address change. The new address is PO Box 2407 James A Farley Station New York, NY 10116-2407. It’s on your agenda under Announcements. Please let your group treasurers know and help spread the word to all the groups you attend.
The 72nd General Service Conference Preliminary list of Agenda Items was sent out this past week, keep in mind this is not the final agenda, more items may be added but it gives you some idea of what will be covered at next year’s conference. Our calendar for next year was sent out with the business meeting reminder but can also be found on our website. Mark your calendars early for district meetings and assemblies, all other events will be determined as we get closer, restrictions loosen, and venues begin to open. Although we are planning for an in-person Founder’s Day at Snyder Park on June 5th, we will get confirmation for that next month.
We have a motion to vote on today, to approve next year’s budget which was presented last month.
We also have a new motion coming out of the Current Practice Committee which will only be presented today and discussed and voted on next month to give everyone a chance to bring it back to your home groups.
We will also be conducting elections for General Service Representatives and Alternate District Committee Members if there are any, that have completed their two year term and are ready to rotate down the service triangle, as well as elections for: Treasurer, Literature, Intergroup Liaison, Room & Ride Coordinator, and Carry the Message Day. A summary of the process along with descriptions and requirements will be put in the chat. If you are willing and have the time to serve one of these committees, we urge you to stand. Remember, God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called.
The 65th Florida State Convention at the beautiful Harbor Beach Marriott on Ft Lauderdale Beach will be from August 3rd – 7th 2022 and they need our support. Early registrations ensure an awesome, fun-filled convention! There are 32 committees that need both individual and group volunteers.
