Good Afternoon, I am an alcoholic, member of the Good Morning God group, my sobriety date is February 26th, 2009, and my name is Sherri.
It was great to see so many of you at last night’s spectacular virtual Spring Fling where we played A.A. Jeopardy, Congratulations to Evonne and Leslie the top two winners and then to top it all off we received such a powerful message from Mike F. Thank you again Debbie and her team.
New members here today, Welcome to District 9 General Service! Please check the chat for a link to today’s agenda so you can follow along. It’s also chock full of information you can bring back to your groups, and keep coming back so we can continue helping you, help your groups!
Feel free to unmute yourselves when it’s time to welcome new members, congratulate newly elected members and birthday celebrants, let’s be interactive and show some love, we are not a glum lot, just don’t forget to mute again when you’re finished.
Today’s meeting will be abbreviated, which means we will not be hearing any committee reports. Instead, each committee’s full report will be included in the minutes.
We will still hold district elections, for an Archives Chair, a Grapevine Chair, and General Service Representatives as well as Alternate District Committee Members rotating up in service.
Instead of Committee reports we will be going over most of the General Service Conference agenda items today. There are 13 committees and 13 presenters who are going to be giving you some clarity and understanding on these topics so you can feel more confident bringing this information back to your groups. The presenters will mainly be focusing on the Discuss, the Consider and the Reconsider agenda items as there are a tremendous amount of Review items and we just would not have the time to cover them all. With that being said, if there are any questions you or your group have about any of the Review topics please don’t hesitate to contact the committee presenter for that section or any of the officers for clarification. There will also be more discussion on these items at the April Assembly.
Why do we do this, because we want to be as prepared as possible, to bring our District’s group conscious, your voice, to the April Assembly so that we can relay it to our Delegate, who will then take it onto the General Service Conference with him. If you are new and don’t understand anything I just said, check the chat for a document that has a brief but more detailed explanation, and if you still have questions please contact me after the meeting. My contact information will be given at the end of this report.
Speaking of the April Assembly being held April 9-11th, you should all be aware by now that it will be held virtually. This means that there is pretty much no reason that you can’t attend. New GSR’s, please reach out to your ADCM, DCM, any Committee Chair or any of the Officers and we will help guide you through the weekend. I look forward to seeing you all.
I am very grateful to all of you, General Service Representatives (GSRs), Alternate General Service Representatives, (Alt. GSRs) District Committee Members (DCMs), Alternate District Committee Members (ADCMs), Committee Chairs and fellow officers, thank you so much for all you do.
Please don’t hesitate to send your comments, questions or concerns to any of us, we are here to serve you. I can be reached by email at: chairperson@district9aa.org or by phone at: (954) 681-2309.
Gratefully serving District 9, where A.A. is Divine, Sherri
