I am an alcoholic, I’m a member of the Lunch Bunch Group, my sobriety date is February 26th, 2009, and my name is Sherri. I would like to start off by saying that I hope all your family and friends, wherever they may be, that were affected by hurricane Ian are getting the help they need, especially along the southwest coast of Florida. They are no doubt bracing for what will be months, if not years, of effort to recover from the massive destruction. I know all our thoughts and prayers are with them.

If you’re new today, please don’t leave without asking about the workshop at 12:30 in room 105 in the building next door where you can learn lots of cool stuff about General Service with Steve B. Also, if you are new, today we have an extra special treat, Elections!!!!!! If you look at your agendas, you will see under unfinished business, there is a motion that came out of the Finance Committee.

As per current practice, the motion was presented last month, which meant we only read it, we had no discussion. Today, we will discuss and vote on it. This is done so you all had time to bring it back to your group conscience meetings. We are having an abbreviated business meeting today so there is plenty of time to hold our officer and committee elections. There are separate handouts detailing the process and what positions are up for election so you can follow along. I encourage you all to listen carefully when candidates are stating their qualifications and remember, don’t vote for someone because they’re your friend, or who you think is popular or who your friend thinks you should vote for, vote for the candidate who is most qualified and has the time to serve.

You were all emailed the information for the rescheduled Area 15 Quarterly Assembly. If you are a voting member, meaning you are a GSR or Alternate GSR in the absence of your GSR, a DCM or ADCM, please do your very best to be the one-day event in Sebring on November 6th. This is a voting assembly, and we need your help voting in your next Area 15 panel of officers as well as the new delegate and alternate delegate. The business meeting begins at 12:00 so there is time to drive up Sunday morning, or you can drive up Saturday and stay at a local hotel. Any GSR or Alternate GSR that will be attending in place of your GSR, that wishes to stay Saturday night and is not funded by your group, please listen carefully to the Room & Ride Coordinators report.
